The official State Flower of California. Beautiful and delicate to the eyes, but amazingly hardy. Very tolerant of drought and poor soil with bright, showy flowers held high on sturdy stems. Reseeds itself in milder climates. Ht. 12 in.

Gardener's Notes: Sow seeds directly outdoors in early spring, in average garden soil as soon as soil can be worked. Mix seeds with sand and spread over area or space seeds several inches apart. Keep moist until seedlings appear. Thin to recommended spacing. In mild winter climates, plant in fall for spring bloom. Poppies tolerate dry conditions but bloom longer if watered regularly. Plants may reseed for bloom the following year.
