The distinctive pods are curved like a sabre, on this bushy, mid-season pea, and contain 8-10 peas each. The plants grow to only 60cm (24”) tall, and are very heat tolerant. High resistance to Fusarium, root-rot, and Powdery Mildew makes Sabre a good choice for home gardeners and market growers alike. The firm pods are also suitable for machine shelling. Sabre is not enation-resistant, so it's best to plant Sabre shelling pea seeds in early spring and summer. By late summer, the pea enation virus is common in coastal gardens, and spread by aphids.
