Red Trillium - Trillium erectum

Delight your spring woodland garden with the dramatic Trillium erectum—commonly known as Red Trillium or Wake Robin. This elegant native perennial produces a single nodding flower with three rich maroon to burgundy-red petals, each 5–9 cm (2–4 in) across, often emitting a distinctive carrion-like scent that attracts flies and beetles for pollination. The flower rises just above a whorl of three deep green, broadly oval to diamond-shaped bracts, emerging in early spring (April–May). While it naturalizes slowly into graceful clumps over time, it's susceptible to deer browsing in areas with high deer populations.
