Tomato Principe Borghese International - Aimers Seeds
Solanum lycopersicum
Variety originated in Italy
Hailing from Italy, the Principe Borghese Tomato is a classic, open-pollinated heirloom prized for its incredible suitability for sun drying. This indeterminate variety produces large clusters of small, grape-sized fruits, up to 60 g in weight, that contain very few seeds. While excellent when eaten fresh or oven-roasted, the flavour truly bursts with concentrated sweetness when dried. It also makes a great paste tomato!
What you need to know to Plant & Grow:
This indeterminate vine requires substantial support and produces a continuous yield ideal for preserving.
Sow Indoors: Start seed indoors in a soilless mix 6 to 8 weeks before the last expected frost date.
Germination: Seed typically germinates in 6 to 10 days.
Transplanting: Grow seedlings on under bright lights before hardening off and transplanting outside to a sunny site after the danger of frost has passed.
Planting Depth: 6 mm
Seed Spacing: 7.5 cm
Transplant to: 90 cm
Row Width: 90 cm
Plants require sturdy support (stakes or tall cages). Keep the soil evenly moist—to help prevent foliar diseases, water the soil, not the leaves. You can expect a long harvest period. Matures in 70 to 75 days.
