Sweet Corn Nirvana Large - Ontario Seed Company
Zea mays
The name says it all. Growing Nirvana Augmented Sweet Corn is the path to corn-growing perfection—a state of ultimate bliss for every gardener. With exceptional vigour, superior seed emergence, and a truly transcendent taste, this hybrid produces very sweet and tender bi-coloured ears that are the epitome of quality. Expect uniform, high-yielding plants with tight husks, good tip fill, and kernels that hold their great flavour on the stalk for a long time.
What you need to know to Plant & Grow
Achieve a bountiful state of bliss by sowing your seeds only when the soil has warmed to at least 18°C. For best results, isolation from all other corn varieties is required to maintain the exceptional kernel quality.
Planting: For best growth, plant in a sunny, wind-sheltered site with well-drained soil and a pH of 5.5 to 6.5. To ensure proper pollination, plant at least 3 to 4 rows. When planting in rows, sow seeds 10-15 cm apart, then thin to 30 cm apart. Rows should be spaced 55-75 cm apart. Germination occurs in approximately 10 days.
Care: Work a good vegetable fertilizer into the soil at planting. Keep weeds under control and irrigate frequently throughout the season. Cobs are ready for harvesting when the silks turn dark brown. To check for maturity, gently press your thumbnail into a kernel; a milky liquid signals true enlightenment.
Approx. 100-125 seeds/pkt
