Zea mays

Add a splash of vibrant colour to your autumn decor with Heirloom Ornamental Corn seeds. This early maturing variety produces sturdy plants with cobs filled with a striking array of multi-coloured kernels, ranging from deep reds and purples to sunny yellows and crisp whites. Perfect for crafting a unique seasonal display, this corn brings festive beauty to any garden.

What you need to know to Plant & Grow

For best growth, plant in a sunny, wind-sheltered site with well-drained soil and a pH of 5.5 to 6.5. Sow seeds only after all danger of frost is past and the soil has warmed to at least 18°C. Isolate ornamental corn from sweet corn varieties by at least 91.5 m.

Planting: To ensure proper pollination, plant at least 3 to 4 rows. Sow seeds in rows 10-15 cm apart, then thin to 30 cm apart. Rows should be spaced 90 cm apart. Germination occurs in approximately 15 days.

Care: Work a vegetable fertilizer into the soil at planting. Keep weeds under control and irrigate frequently throughout the season. Cobs are ready for harvesting when the silks turn dark brown.

Approx. 100-125 seeds/pkt
