Snow Crocus - Orange Monarch, 10 Pack

ORANGE MONARCH

  • Crocus chrysanthus
  • A bee favourite!
  • Great in containers
  • Easy growers
  • Full to part sun

Crocus Olivieri, a.k.a. ‘Orange Monarch’, are easy, low-growing perennials that add a pop of colour to any type of garden. Aptly named after the monarch butterfly, these flowers sport six orange petals with brown stripes along their backs. While such blooms make a fantastic display in their own container or flower bed, their smaller height of 4 inches makes them great for garden borders as well. Orange Monarchs are deer-resistant and bee attractors, making them a good choice for pollinators. Plant bulbs in September or October to have production from January through March. Bulbs should be placed 2 inches deep and 2 inches apart in well-draining soil, along with a slow-release fertilizer to boost the health of spring blossoms. Crocuses like full-sun to partial-shade and do best in zones 3-8. These flowers are toxic to ingest, so pets and small children should be kept out of range.
