Hot Pepper Carranza Ancho Poblano - Ontario Seed Company

Capsicum annuum

The Carranza Hot Pepper is a superb Ancho Poblano type, beloved for its large size, glossy green colour, and excellent flavour profile. These robust peppers reach an impressive 15 cm to 17.5 cm in length and 7.5 cm in width. They feature a fresh, sweet taste balanced by just the right touch of heat (up to 3000 SHU) that is perfect for any palate. This variety performs exceptionally well in the heat of summer, making it a reliable and productive choice for your garden. Enjoy them fresh, stuffed, or dried.

What you need to know to Plant & Grow

Hot peppers require an early indoor start and plenty of heat to thrive and produce a heavy harvest.

Sow Indoors: Start seeds indoors 8 to 10 weeks before the last expected frost date. Use a soilless growing mix.

Germination: Seed typically germinates in 10 to 20 days. Maintaining the growing medium at a temperature of 21 °C will enhance germination.

Transplanting: Transplant seedlings after hardening off, in late May to early June, to a location with Full Sun and rich, well-drained soil.

Planting Depth: 6 mm

Seed Spacing: 45 cm

Thin to: 60 cm

Row Width: 75 cm

This variety performs best in hot weather. Control weeds and avoid high nitrogen fertilizers. Due to the large size of the fruit, staking or caging may be beneficial to support the plant. Harvest Time is approximately 70 days after transplanting.

Approx. 12-15 seeds/pkt
