Tomato Salt Spring Sunrise - Eagleridge Seeds
Salt Spring Sunrise
Created on Salt Spring Island by the family of the James Seed Company which operated here starting in the early 1900s. They grew to be an international success winning many awards. The retired owner decided to work on a new variety in the 1960s. Growing conditions locally were not ideal for tomatoes. Too cool at night, heavy morning dew and salt air made it difficult for most varieties to thrive.
How our climate has changed many decades later. But this little powerhouse of a plant still loves it here! Small study bushes are huge producers of medium-sized red fruit so support them well. The real tomato taste is nicely balanced. Stores well once picked. Can thrive in cool moist areas even with partial sun. Also grows well in large pots for balcony growing. Ready in 70 days. Rarely offered this seed packet holds about 15 seeds.
