Gardener's Notes: In early spring as soon as soil can be worked, sow directly outdoors into fertile, well-drained soil. Space seeds 2-3 in. apart in wide bands, spacing each band 2 feet apart. Protect young seedlings from birds and provide supports for the growing vines. Sow again 2 weeks later for successive harvest. Pick pods when 3 inches long, plump and filled out. In mild climates, grow during fall and winter months.
