Gardener's Notes: In spring, when night temperatures reach 50F (10C), sow seeds directly outdoors. Sow several inches apart, in fertile, well-drained soil in full sun. Keep planting area consistently moist but not soggy. Thin seedlings when 3 inches tall to 4 in. apart, and keep well weeded. Harvest bulbs when tops begin turning yellow and fall over. Dig up then dry bulbs on top of the soil for 7-10 days. Remove tops and store in cool dry location.
