Mirabilis jalapa

Also known as Marvel of Peru, these small 1-2 inch, trumpet-shaped flowers open each day in the afternoon on sunny days. Fast-growing, shrub-like plants make a wonderfully scented border or low hedge. Easy to grow. Ht. 2-3 ft.

Gardener's Notes: In spring, after all danger of frost is over and weather is warm and settled, plant in ordinary garden soil in full sun. Poke seeds into well worked soil about 1/2 in. deep and 4-6 in. apart. Firm soil well and keep moist until seedlings emerge. Once established, plants grow quickly and effortlessly and tolerate tough conditions. Four o' clocks will resow readily and are perennial in mild climates.
