Zucchini is a warm-season crop: wait to sow outdoors directly in the garden in late spring or early summer when nights are reliably above 50F (10C). Choose a sunny spot and amend soil with compost and all-purpose fertilizer. Sow in groups of 2-3 seeds every 2'. When seedlings are several inches tall, thin to 1 strong seedling per group.
