Carrot Chantenay Red Cored - Cornucopia Seeds

Daucus carota

A sweet-tasting choice for heavy soils. Short, thick carrots hold their shape and crunch without becoming tough. Harvest early for ‘baby’ carrots. Ready to harvest in 68 days.

Light Full sun
Row Spacing 8 inches
Plant Spacing 2 inches
Planting height 1/4 inch
Days to germination 14-21
Plant height 12 - 18 inches

Gardener's Notes:  Sow seeds directly into well-drained soil in spring when soil can be worked. Sprinkle seeds evenly, about 1/2 to 1 inch apart. Carrot seeds are slow to germinate - keep soil evenly moist. Thin 2 inch tall seedlings to stand about 2 inches apart so roots have room to grow. Sow every 3 weeks until early summer for continuous supply. For easier harvest, moisten soil. In mild climates, plant another crop for late summer.
