Clematis Louise Rowe

Louise Rowe

Well formed, pastel-mauve, 4-6" (10-15cm) double flowers in May, followed by single blooms through the summer. This is a great performer! Mature height 6-9' (2-3m). Great for cut flowers and container gardening!

Double Clematis usually produces their double blooms in the late spring on stems produced the last growing season. The current season's growth produces single blooms later in the season. Some, like Louise Rowe, can produce single and double blooms at the same time. If they are pruned in the late fall or early spring, the ripe wood that produces the double flowers will be discarded and only single blooms will be displayed.

Any extreme pruning is best left until just after the early blooms are finished giving the plant the rest of the growing season to produce new vines. Early extreme pruning will not hurt your plant. It will only change that season's blooming sequence.
