Carrots Cosmic Purple - Ontario Seed Company
Daucus carota subsp. sativus
Take your garden on an interstellar journey with our Cosmic Purple Carrot seeds! These stunning Danvers-type carrots are a true galaxy of colour, with a deep purple outer skin, a vibrant yellow central core, and a fiery orange interior. With an unusually sweet flavour and a hint of spiciness, these carrots are packed with beneficial antioxidants that are out-of-this-world good for you!
What you need to know to Plant & Grow
Prepare your garden plot for a cosmic journey—carrots will grow well in any open, well-cultivated, deep garden soil.
Planting: Once soil temperature rises above 7.5°C, sow seed about 5 mm deep and 5 mm apart in rows spaced at 45-60 cm. As the seed is quite small, mix it with some sand when sowing. Sow seed at 5-day intervals over several weeks to ensure a continuous harvest.
Care: Keep the seedbed evenly moist during the two-week germination period but avoid crusting over the soil as this will greatly reduce the number of seedlings that emerge. Thin the seedlings during the early stages of growth until they are 6 cm apart. Keep the plants evenly watered, weed-free and avoid high nitrogen fertilizers. Harvest any time after the carrot roots develop their good colour.
Approx. 500 seeds/pkt
