Beans Slenderette Large - Ontario Seed Company
Phaseolus vulgaris
For an outstanding harvest of smooth, tender beans, look no further than Slenderette Bush Bean seeds. This open-pollinated variety produces beautiful, dark glossy green pods that are 13 cm long and have no fibre or string. An excellent choice for the table, this versatile bean is a delicious addition to Your Garden and is also a favourite for freezing and canning.
What you need to know to Plant & Grow
Beans have a distinct dislike for cold, wet soils, so sow seeds only after the soil has warmed to at least 16°C.
Planting: For best growth, sow seeds in a sunny location with light, organic, well-drained soil. Sow seeds 2.5 cm deep and 8 cm apart in rows spaced 45 to 70 cm apart. To ensure a continuous harvest, make successive sowings every 10 days until mid-July.
Care: Keep the soil evenly watered, particularly when the plants are in flower and starting to produce pods. Avoid using high-nitrogen fertilizer, as it can promote excessive foliage. To reduce the risk of disease, avoid disturbing the plants when leaves are damp. Germination occurs in approximately 8 days.
Approx. 80-100 seeds/pkt
