Beans Romano II Bush Large - Ontario Seed Company
Phaseolus vulgaris
Bring a classic Italian flavour to Your Garden with Romano II Bush Bean seeds. This reliable variety produces a generous crop of tender, broad, flattened pods with a truly delicious flavour. These stocky, bushy plants are a great choice for a steady harvest of fresh beans perfect for eating and freezing.
What you need to know to Plant & Grow
Beans have a distinct dislike for cold, wet soils, so sow seeds only after the soil has warmed to at least 16°C.
Planting: For best growth, sow seeds in a sunny location with light, organic, well-drained soil. Sow seeds 2.5 cm deep and 8 cm apart in rows spaced 45 to 70 cm apart. To ensure a continuous harvest, make successive sowings every 10 days until mid-July.
Care: Keep the soil evenly watered, especially when the plants are in flower and starting to produce pods. Avoid using high-nitrogen fertilizer, as it can promote excessive foliage. When leaves are damp, avoid disturbing the plants to reduce the risk of disease. Germination occurs in approximately 8 days.
Approx. 70-80 seeds/pkt
